When we founded 883 Police back in Italy in the mid-nineties, we couldn’t have imagined just how incredible the support and positive feedback would be. Over the past two decades, our brand has grown from an authentic, Italian-crafted capsule of must-have denim to a complete outfitting solution for the
modern fashion addict. Our site has expanded to encompass all the most critical apparel categories from smart-casual chinos to swim shorts, mens designer bags to mens designer belts and mens leather jackets to of-the-moment technical bombers - and plenty more besides. Still based on our core commitment to outstanding denim innovation, the 883 Police vibe was always going to be infused with effortless style as it grew.
With the increased offering coming out of our manufacturing base and a thriving number of daily web hits, we realised late last year that a new website was no longer a desirable: it was a necessity. So we got to work with a highly talented team of digital creatives to build a brand new website, with a significant focus on usability and attractive design. As the project progressed, we soon figured out that the unveiling of our new site was going to coincide neatly with both our 20th birthday celebrations and the launch of our new collection.
It turned out to be quite the hat trick! So we decided to throw a big party, 883 Police style.
The right place at the right time
Given that we wanted to host the party in Manchester, we needed to track down the perfect venue. We searched the city until we tracked down the popular Smokehouse & Cellar on Lloyd Street. This quirky collision of old-farmhouse rustic charm and gleaming copper beer barrels struck just the right notes for a celebration of our Americana-inspired, urban classic streetwear.
Located in Manchester’s fashionable Spinning fields district, this busy, spacious bar and restaurant serves superb food and award-winning craft beers, as well as offering live DJ entertainment so that diners don’t have to venture elsewhere to carry on their evening’s festivities.
Throwing the doors open
As the evening of the 9th March kicked off at 6pm, hoards of fun-loving locals and celebrities started to pour through the Smokehouse doors, ready to party and discover more about our latest collection. TV, music and reality show personalities packed the joint, led by the inimitable Katie Price. Everyone’s favourite TV personality and fashion fan Ms. Price rocked up representing our kind of style, with ripped jeans, oversized sunglasses and an in-your-face statement slogan T-shirt.
The ever-popular Loose Women panellist was joined by a clutch of our favourite soap stars, including Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas and Danny Miller (both sporting their favourite 883 Police wardrobe pieces) and Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent, Katie McGlynn, Tisha Merry and Bruno Langley.
Live musical entertainment was provided by the unparalleled talents of Jake Quickenden. Jake is a big fan of 883 Police apparel, and serves as one of our leading models and brand ambassadors. Jake treated our guests to a string of songs and some quick-fingered guitar skills, many of which were inspired by his two stints on the X Factor. Jake also gained a legion of brand new fans during his participation in I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here and, more recently, The Jump. Local blues collective Feed The Kid and neo-soul singer Dean Mac added to the musical entertainment, making sure there was never a quiet moment from start to finish.
Boasting in excess of four million social media followers between them, our star-studded VIP list was only too happy to help us celebrate in style and check out the latest seasonal offerings. We were thrilled to have such an influential bunch in attendance.
The whole event helped 883 Police to gain even more interest in their new-season collection, and the response so far has been amazing. To check it out for yourself (and watch a creative video crafted around the spirit of the SS17 collection), head to the newly revamped 883 Police website, where you’ll find a host of previous season pieces on sale in the clearance section, too.
We were pleased to welcome a host of local and national showbiz reporters to our launch event on the 9th March 2017, including the local Manchester Evening News. Check out what they had to say by clicking Manchestereveningnews.co.uk.
We’d like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thanks to all of our wonderful guests and talented performers, the reporters and photographers and, of course, the lovely folk at the Smokehouse & Cellar who were fantastic hosts. We’ll be popping back for some food and drinks as soon as possible!
